The bright, plastic colors disarm the senses and create an expectation of frivolity, yet the compositions tell a darker tale.

I chose my material carefully. I was attracted to my free-play memories of a childhood surrounded by bins of these toys. In these memories I saw direct links to the free-play sentimentality of today's open source, rapid-prototyping movements. I sought a way to bridge these two ideas. I wanted to convert the joy I found in free-play to the need I have to make art.

I use the simple K'nex motors to create a constantly shifting juxtaposition. To show the unstable, yet cyclical nature inherent in all of our stories.
